Job Description

The Solutions Engineer, Data Engineering is a hands-on contributor within the Microsoft Data and AI practice, responsible for building and delivering enterprise-scale data platforms using Azure and Microsoft Fabric. This role partners closely with engineering teams and clients to implement secure, scalable, and compliant data pipelines that support analytics, reporting, and AI-driven use cases.
The position is delivery-focused, with ownership of key data engineering workstreams, including large-scale lakehouse implementations for public sector and regulated industries. This primarily remote role is ideal for engineers motivated by hands-on development, Microsoft cloud innovation, and high-impact work in complex environments.

Required Skills & Experience

• Hands-on data engineering experience on Microsoft Azure and or Microsoft Fabric
• Experience building end-to-end data pipelines (ingestion, transformation, storage)
• Lakehouse or data warehouse architecture experience in production environments
• Azure Data Factory for orchestration and data movement
• Azure Synapse and or Databricks for data processing and analytics workloads
• Strong SQL experience across relational data platforms (SQL Server, Azure SQL)
• Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 experience
• Production support experience including monitoring, pipeline failures, and data refreshes
• Data modeling experience including incremental processing and historical retention
• Knowledge of data security and governance in regulated environments (RBAC, encryption, sensitive data)
• Consulting or client-facing project delivery experience
• Source control experience (Git or similar)
• CI/CD and environment promotion experience

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric workloads (Lakehouse, Warehousing, Pipelines)
• Public sector or highly regulated industry experience
• Experience enabling analytics, reporting, or AI/ML use cases
• Familiarity with enterprise data compliance requirements
• Data pipeline testing frameworks
• Strong communication skills translating business needs into technical solutions
• Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate (active or in progress)
