Job Description
An engineering-focused organization in the Midwest is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design and execution of precast concrete structures. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all engineering work meets safety, quality, and code requirements while supporting projects from concept through completion.
This role will also provide mentorship to junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver efficient, constructible solutions. Ideal for someone with strong technical expertise who enjoys both hands-on design work and team leadership.

Required Skills & Experience

Key Responsibilities

Design and analyze precast concrete structures for safety, performance, and code compliance
Review and approve engineering calculations and drawings for accuracy
Lead and support project design teams to meet technical and project milestones
Mentor and guide junior engineers on design practices and technical development
Interpret architectural and structural plans and perform engineering calculations
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and internal teams to develop project solutions
Identify and resolve design, schedule, and quality issues
Provide engineering support to sales and estimating teams
Conduct site and manufacturing facility visits as needed
Make timely technical decisions and implement solutions to address project challenges

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
5+ years of structural engineering experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within the first year
Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and construction practices
Experience with design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment

Experience with precast concrete design or related industry
Previous experience mentoring or leading junior engineers


Working Conditions

Occasional travel to plant or field locations
Must be comfortable working in industrial environments and wearing required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, etc.)
Ability to navigate job sites, including uneven surfaces, stairs, and active construction areas
