Job Description

Join an agile self-motivated team of engineers responsible for the development and support of embedded cyber work products for a family of ground combat vehicles. The function of this position is to support the Cyber and Command, Control, Communication, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) product realization team with responsibility for Cyber and C5ISR architecture, technology, product development, evaluation, testing and compliance across the US market and support the delivery of products and services to Ground Combat Platforms. This is an embedded software engineering position. The following are the key duties and skills required:
Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target hardware
Work closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system
Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and formal test
Develop and maintain software tools, scripts and eXtensible Markup Language (XML) files to implement and/ or verify proper configurations.
Perform software engineering and development duties to ensure the software applications are maintained in accordance with all accreditation and configuration control requirements.
Develop data/ message protocol transformation mechanisms/ applications, enabling interoperability between multiple data-sharing domains.
Utilize a variety of software languages in a Security Enhanced embedded Linux-based operating system environment
Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and assess solutions to defects
Manage, develop, support and conduct trade studies/structured decisions for Cyber test design, environment, and tools. including system-level impacts to include balance of capability, cost, reliability, schedule improvement, and performance across a Cyber, C5ISR vehicle suite
Develop and evaluate checkpoint and design milestone artifacts and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs) and review to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with contract requirements.

$50/hr to $53/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related science (cyber certifications and management credentials considered)
• Experience: 10+ years in relevant roles
• Technical Expertise:
o Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML
o Embedded systems engineering in cyber environments
o NIST SP 800-37 and 800-53 compliance
o Threat Analysis and Risk Assessment (TARA)
o System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, and related documentation
Core Competencies
1. Embedded Systems Design & Integration
o Real-time operating systems (RTOS), microcontrollers, hardware/software co-design
o Low-level programming (C/C++) and hardware abstraction layers
2. Cybersecurity in Embedded Environments
o Secure boot, encryption, authentication mechanisms
o Secure communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553)
3. Systems Modeling & Architecture
o Proficiency with Cameo Systems Modeler and SysML
o Understanding SWaP-CRaM trade-offs (Size, Weight, Power, Cost, Risk, Maintainability)
4. Compliance & Risk Management
o Applying NIST SP 800-37 and 800-53 to embedded systems
o Developing SSPs, POA&Ms, and compliance documentation
