Job Description

This candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of small to mid-sized lab renovation projects, serving as the single point of contact across architecture, construction, permitting, and internal engineering stakeholders. This role leads execution for projects such as a ~20,000 sq ft lab space refresh, where architectural and engineering (A/E) design is provided, and the focus is on construction project management, coordination, and delivery.

Project Management Responsibilities:
• Drive projects from pre-construction through closeout, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and execution plans.
• Coordinate closely with internal engineers who provide technical input, translating requirements into construction activities.

Architecture, Construction & Permit Coordination Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate activities between:
o Architectural / Engineering (A/E) firms
o Construction companies and subcontractors
o Internal engineering and operations teams
• Ensure construction execution aligns with approved architectural drawings and engineering requirements.
• Coordinate permitting activities, including submissions, inspections, and approvals, serving as the primary interface with permitting authorities as needed.

Construction Execution & Lab Readiness Responsibilities
• Oversee day-to-day construction activities for lab build-outs and renovations.
• Coordinate lab equipment setup and installation sequencing with construction milestones.
• Support lab readiness through coordination of utilities, layouts, and access requirements.
• Partner with engineering teams to assess installation results and confirm spaces meet functional requirements.

Bidding & Scope Development Responsibilities
• Develop clear and comprehensive Scopes of Work (SOWs) for construction and trade bids.
• Support competitive bidding processes by:
o Organizing bidder walkthroughs and site visits
o Facilitating bid meetings and responding to bidder questions
o Collecting and reviewing contractor proposals
• Create bid recaps and comparison summaries outlining cost, schedule, and scope considerations.
• Support contractor selection through data-driven recommendations.

Vendor & Contractor Management Responsibilities
• Manage general contractors and subcontractors throughout the construction phase.
• Conduct regular check-ins to track progress, address issues, and mitigate risks.
• Review change requests and support cost and schedule impact assessments.
• Ensure safe work practices and adherence to project requirements.

Schedule, Budget & Delivery Control Responsibilities
• Track project schedules and proactively manage risks that may impact delivery timelines.
• Support cost tracking, forecasting, and change management in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Ensure documentation, punch list items, and closeout activities are completed prior to project turnover.

Compensation:
$50/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3-5 years of experience working as a project manager or project engineer in construction
• 3-5 years of experience in construction management
• Background working in construction, utilities etc. - No OEM or suppliers
• Understands building code compliance: upgrading electrical/utilities

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Degree in Construction Management
• Project engineer experience working in construction
