Job Description

Insight global is seeking a Tooling Engineer to support tube and carrier machining operations within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role will partner closely with Process Engineers, Tooling Teams, Production, and Quality to ensure the successful launch and ongoing performance of advanced manufacturing lines. The Tooling Engineer will be responsible for developing and optimizing machining tooling, improving process capability, reducing variability, and ensuring all quality and production metrics are achieved. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in machining tooling, tool design, and production manufacturing, with a strong understanding of launch activities, PPAP documentation, process control, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
• Develop, implement, and optimize tooling solutions for tube and carrier machining operations.
• Support machining processes through tooling development, validation, and continuous improvement activities.
• Lead implementation and utilization of GTSV (Global Tool Supply Verification) tool tracking systems.
• Identify tooling-critical product characteristics and establish appropriate process controls to ensure quality and capability.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.
• Complete all launch-related quality documentation, including PPAP requirements and process validation activities.
• Apply engineering and analytical methodologies to establish robust machining processes and improve manufacturing performance.
• Investigate tooling, process, and quality issues utilizing structured problem-solving methods and implement corrective actions.
• Partner with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve process stability.
• Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with Ford Powertrain manufacturing and quality standards.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, standardized work instructions, and tooling specifications.
• Lead lean manufacturing initiatives focused on waste elimination, variability reduction, and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, environmental, and governmental regulations.
• Support ISO 14001 requirements, environmental initiatives, and internal audit activities.
• Deliver capable machining processes that consistently meet safety, quality, throughput, and cost targets.

Compensation:

$45/hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:
• 3+ years of machining experience
• Experience with cutting tooling (2+ years) (there is different types of tooling, we don’t want tool and die or robotics tooling)
• Strong experience with turning tooling, CNC tooling, and machining processes, such as (Drilling, reaming, taping, milling)
• High production machining tool manufacturing experience
• Tool Design experienced
• Experience programming of Tool Presetters (Royal/Zoller)
• Experience supporting production machining operations and tooling optimization
