Job Description

The Software & Controls Engineer supports FANUC robotic paint and sealer automation projects by owning the system controls function from design through startup.
Controls Software Development & Execution
• Design, write, and implement PLC / HMI / GUI software
• Program and debug new PLC functionality
• Maintain and update existing controls software (legacy and current platforms)
• Write controls specifications defining functional scope and I/O requirements
System Integration & Startup
• Spend time working with Process Engineers to bring systems up and running
• Support integration activities on the FANUC production floor
• Support field installation, startup, and onsite/in‑plant debug
• Provide support for current/installed systems
Team & Project Support
• Work alongside other controls engineers and cross‑functional execution teams
• Review and support the electrical design process
• Participate in system testing, runoff, and customer acceptance
• Support customer training sessions as needed

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY
• PLC platforms: Rockwell (Allen‑Bradley), Siemens, Mitsubishi
• Programming languages: PLC Ladder / Structured Text, Visual Basic, C#
• Databases: SQL
• Virtual commissioning tools (plus): Process Simulate, Emulate3D
• Standard PC / Microsoft tools


Compensation:
$45/hr to $53/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• PLC programming experience, including Rockwell (Allen‑Bradley), Siemens, and/or Mitsubishi
• Ability to program new PLC logic from scratch
• Experience supporting controls software development through implementation, testing, and debug
• Experience working as part of an execution/project team
• Strong troubleshooting ability in industrial / automation environments
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for specs, status updates, and technical documentation

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Visual Basic experience (legacy / older systems)
• C# programming experience
• Experience managing and querying SQL databases
• Experience with virtual commissioning software (Process Simulate, Emulate3D)
