License Optimization Analyst

A client of Insight Global is seeking a License Optimization Analyst to join their team in Linthicum, MD in a hybrid work environment (2 days onsite, 3 days remote). This role is responsible for evaluating software license utilization across the organization to ensure cost-effective and efficient use of technology investments. The analyst will assess current licensing usage, identify opportunities for optimization, and provide recommendations that align with business needs and budget objectives. Additionally, this individual will analyze the potential operational and financial impacts of acquiring new licenses, modifying existing agreements, or eliminating underutilized licenses. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting software asset and licensing data, developing actionable insights, and presenting findings to stakeholders. Strong analytical skills and an understanding of software licensing models are essential. Experience creating dashboards and reports using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau is required to support tracking, reporting, and data-driven decision-making. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in driving software cost optimization and licensing strategy across the organization.

$65-$75/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

• 3+ years of experience in software license management, software asset management (SAM), IT procurement, or license optimization analysis
• Hands-on experience analyzing software license utilization data and making recommendations to reduce costs, improve compliance, and maximize software investments
• Advanced reporting and dashboard development skills using Excel, Power BI, or Tableau to track license usage, trends, and optimization opportunities
• Excellent proposal and communication skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft, Oracle, and/or SAP licenses
