Job Description

Insight Global is looking for an Interim Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to serve as a transformational executive leader during a critical period of transition within a $5B+ healthcare system spanning 14 hospitals. This is not a caretaker role. Reporting to the Acting CIO, the Interim CTO will lead modernization and organizational change across a large, complex, Epic‑driven, multi‑hospital environment, while maintaining operational stability. This role requires a hands‑on, decisive leader who is comfortable reshaping teams, challenging legacy approaches, and executing at scale in one of the region’s largest health systems. The Interim CTO will have executive oversight of four major functional areas within the system's Technology Services Group, operating across a large, multi‑site, highly complex hospital environment supporting 14 hospitals and a broad clinical and administrative user base: infrastructure, network and telecommunications, end-user computing and service delivery/engineering.

Scope of Responsibility
Infrastructure
Own core infrastructure platforms including servers, storage, databases, backups, and backend systems
Provide leadership across cloud architecture and hybrid environments, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability
Support a highly complex, mission‑critical healthcare infrastructure with stringent uptime and performance expectations

Network & Telecommunications (Primary Area for Transformation)
Lead all wired and wireless networking, telecom systems, and supporting applications
Assess current leadership, structure, and performance across the network and telecom organization
Drive modernization of network architecture, operating models, and accountability frameworks
Elevate outcomes from “good enough” performance to a best‑in‑class, resilient enterprise network

End‑User Computing
Oversee all desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and clinical workstations
Improve clinician and employee technology experience across login workflows, device performance, and workflow efficiency
Balance security, usability, and cost in a highly regulated healthcare environment
Partner closely with clinical, operational, and security stakeholders to improve satisfaction and adoption

Service Delivery & Engineering
Lead technology service delivery and engineering functions across the enterprise
Oversee the Microsoft ecosystem (M365, backend platforms), Citrix / VDI, and virtualization technologies
Provide executive oversight to a small in‑house AI development team and supporting engineering resources
Ensure consistent service quality, execution discipline, and alignment with enterprise priorities

Key Priorities

1. Network & Telecom Reset
Reassess organizational design, leadership capabilities, and performance metrics
Address gaps in accountability, talent, and execution
Modernize architecture and operating models to support scale, reliability, and growth

2. Cloud Strategy Execution
Take ownership of a newly defined cloud roadmap developed with a preferred third‑party partner
Translate strategy into actionable execution plans
Drive adoption, governance, and optimization while aligning with security and compliance requirements

3. End‑User & Desktop Experience Transformation
Modernize how clinicians and staff interact with technology on a daily basis
Improve login experience, system performance, and workflow efficiency
Re‑evaluate legacy approaches to endpoint management, virtualization, and access models
Experience with Imprivata, VDI, and Windows‑based environments is highly valued

4. Operational Stability
Maintain uptime, reliability, and performance across all technology domains
Ensure patient care and clinical operations remain fully supported while transformation initiatives are underway
