Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Embedded OS Engineer to support an Army research and development program focused on advanced Electronic Warfare (EW), cyber, communications, and FPGA-based technologies. This engineer will support the development, integration, and optimization of embedded operating system environments that enable mission-critical applications across a variety of hardware platforms.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Embedded Linux, firmware development, device drivers, and system-level integration. This role will work closely with software developers and FPGA engineers to ensure applications, operating systems, and hardware components function together seamlessly.

This position serves as a bridge between traditional FPGA development efforts and modern software-based architectures. The successful candidate will help support embedded operating system environments, application deployment, system integration, and platform performance across multiple technologies and operating environments.

Responsibilities:
• Develop, maintain, and optimize embedded operating system environments.
• Design and support firmware, drivers, and low-level software components.
• Collaborate with FPGA engineers to integrate software and hardware solutions.
• Support deployment and integration of applications across embedded platforms.
• Troubleshoot operating system, firmware, and hardware/software interface issues.
• Support system-level testing, validation, and performance optimization efforts.
• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and technical planning activities.
•Assist in bridging FPGA-based development efforts with modern embedded software environments.

$52hr to $68hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• Active Top Secret Clearance w/ Ability to obtain SCI
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
• 5+ years of experience developing and supporting embedded operating systems
• Experience working within Embedded Linux environments (Red Hat, Rocky Linux, or similar distributions)
• Strong C/C++ development experience
• Experience developing firmware and device drivers
• Experience integrating software with embedded hardware platforms
• Experience troubleshooting operating system, firmware, and hardware/software interface issues
• Understanding of FPGA-based systems and ability to work alongside FPGA development teams
• Experience working independently in a research and development environment

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• Experience with FPGA-based platforms, including Xilinx SoC or RFSoC devices
• Experience supporting Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies
• Experience with Android-based embedded systems
• Experience with containerized applications and deployment technologies
• Linux kernel development experience
• Experience supporting Electronic Warfare (EW), Cyber, or communications-focused programs
•Experience with RF systems and communications technologies
