Job Description

The Field Technician III is responsible for the installation, integration, activation, and ongoing support of Verizon’s wireless network infrastructure. This role supports a large group of network elements and works cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure successful site turn-ups, network integrity, and optimal performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong transport fundamentals and direct experience integrating Ericsson and Nokia equipment. Day-to-day includes:

• Support the operation, integration, and maintenance of a large group of wireless network elements
• Perform Ericsson integrations for new site activations and network expansions
• Install, configure, and support Nokia routers within the transport network
• Execute Layer 1 and Layer 2 transport activities, including fiber, cabling, and circuit validation
• Conduct network testing and analysis to ensure coverage, performance, and contiguous communication
• Support new site turn-ups, hardware integration, and interconnect facilities
• Perform activation tasks in accordance with local, regional, corporate, and regulatory requirements
• Troubleshoot alarms, service impacts, and network issues in the field
• Update daily logs with site-specific details, work performed, and test results
• Create clear and concise reports for system documentation and engineering teams
• Collaborate with engineering, project management, and operations teams to meet deployment timelines

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–7 years of wireless field technician or field engineering experience
• 2-year technical degree (electronics, telecommunications, networking, or related field)
OR
• 4+ years of equivalent wireless field engineering experience in lieu of a degree
• Hands-on Ericsson integration experience (required)
• Hands-on experience with Nokia routers in a live network environment
• Strong Layer 1 and Layer 2 transport skills (fiber, circuits, troubleshooting)
• Scripting proficiency (used for configuration, automation, or troubleshooting)
• Experience supporting network activation and site integration
• Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Project management experience or exposure to coordinating site deployments
• Experience with Westell alarming systems
• Prior Verizon or large carrier network experience
• Experience supporting regulatory or compliance-driven network activations
