Job Description
We are seeking an Entry‑Level Engineering Technologist to support power distribution design projects for utility and energy clients. This role is ideal for someone early in their technical career who is eager to learn distribution design, field data collection, and utility standards while working alongside experienced engineers and designers.
You will assist in developing construction‑ready design packages for overhead and underground distribution systems, supporting both office and field activities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in preparing distribution design packages, drawings, and documentation
Support field data collection, site walks, measurements, and as‑built updates
Use power distribution software such as Katapult, Distribution Design Studio (DDS), or similar tools
Interpret utility standards, design guidelines, and basic NESC requirements
Prepare material lists, staking sheets, and project documentation
Coordinate with designers, engineers, and project managers to resolve design questions
Maintain accurate records, notes, and field photos for project files
Support permitting, easement reviews, and right‑of‑way documentation
Participate in training and mentorship to grow technical skills

Required Skills & Experience
Associate’s degree in Design, CAD, GIS, Drafting, or a related technical field
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or a similar non‑engineering discipline
Interest in power distribution, utilities, or infrastructure design
Ability to learn distribution design software (Katapult, DDS, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and willingness to perform field work
Good communication and documentation skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Exposure to CAD, GIS, or drafting tools
Internship or coursework related to utilities, construction, or infrastructure
Familiarity with utility standards (CenterPoint, Entergy, AEP, Oncor, etc.)
Ability to read maps, drawings, or basic construction plans
