Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Tooling Designer to sit fully onsite in Middle River, MD. The candidate will be responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify tooling requirements for production machinery and coordinating with external suppliers to procure and commission those tools. They will partner closely with the production team to review technical drawings and ensure all tooling is compatible and functional for each machine. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role requires ongoing engagement with suppliers to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of tooling. Additionally, the candidate will work across multiple business units to support tooling efforts for a wide range of manufacturing equipment.

Compensation:
$32/hr to $35/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3–5 years of experience in tool design, tooling development, or tooling commissioning within a manufacturing environment
• Prior experience in aerospace or a similarly regulated, high-precision manufacturing setting strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with composite materials and associated manufacturing processes (e.g., layup, curing, trimming) highly desired
• Proficiency with CAD software such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar design platforms
• Demonstrated ability to interpret technical drawings and collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage supplier relationships and cross-functional stakeholders
• Comfortable operating in a client-facing role, including providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring alignment across internal and external partners
