Job Description:
The Sales Consultant is responsible for winning bids, reviewing construction plans and preparing accurate cost estimates for projects such as insulation, drywall, steel stud framing, and gutters. They work closely with contractors to build strong relationships, develop budgets, and present proposals that align with project needs. This role is highly client-focused, requiring clear communication and collaboration throughout the bidding and preconstruction process. The Sales Consultant regularly visits job sites to verify scopes, gather information, and support field operations, with travel making up a significant portion of the role. They utilize tools like Excel and estimating software to perform takeoffs and pricing while maintaining strong attention to detail. Overall, this position blends estimating and customer interaction, helping drive project wins through accurate pricing and relationship building. They will travel 50% of the time, with 25% of that time being used for relationship building. Some existing accounts / leads will be given, with opportunities to grow on their own.
Day to day:
• Perform quantity takeoffs from construction plans and site visits for insulation, drywall, steel studs, painting, and gypsum floor underlayment
• Travel to relationship build and meet with clients
• Develop detailed labor and material estimates and prepare clear, professional proposals for clients
• Review and clarify project scope with builders and general contractors, documenting assumptions and exclusions
• Support winning bids by providing timely clarifications, value-add suggestions, and accurate scope breakdowns
• Create handoff packages for operations teams once projects are awarded, including budgets and scope sheets
• Track project performance against estimates to support profitability and identify lessons learned
Maintain organized project documentation, notes, and customer communications within internal systems
