Senior Java Developer

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Developer to join a leading Courier and Logistics client in Mississauga.

The Senior Java Developer will act as the technical counterpart to the Solution Architect and serve as the bridge between solution design and the development team. The role requires strong hands-on development capability (not just coordination).

Work arrangement: Primarily remote with occasional on-site attendance in Mississauga as needed for key meetings and visibility.

Contract duration: Through year-end with extension based on performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with the Solution Architect during and after requirements discovery to understand solution direction and design.
- Translate solution designs into detailed technical stories (with support from the BA and Solution Architect), including:
- impacted systems/components
- database tables/fields and technical implementation details
- clear acceptance criteria and implementation notes
- Run technical walkthrough sessions with developers to ensure clarity and eliminate ambiguity before development starts.
- Fill gaps quickly and reduce developer time spent on clarifications by producing thorough, high-quality technical tickets.
- Contribute hands-on development work (this is required, not optional).
- Support technical operations/problem solving as needed (e.g., triaging security alerts in AWS cloud environments and coordinating resolution with the Solution Architect).
- Help ensure continuity by progressively taking over key work from the current senior developer.

- 7+ years of hands-on development with proven ability to own end to end delivery
- Heavy backend Java experience
- Strong AWS/serverless exposure, including:
- AWS Lambda
- Step Functions
- Python experience
- Ability to produce very detailed, high-quality technical stories/documentation.
- Confident communicator who can lead technical walkthroughs and align developers to the intended solution.
