Job Description

The Senior API Developer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable APIs that enable access to and delivery of enriched provider data.
This role will focus on exposing golden provider records and insights through well-structured API endpoints that integrate with downstream applications and workflow tools used during the referral process.

Key Responsibilities:
• Design and develop RESTful APIs to securely access and expose provider data from multiple backend systems
• Build APIs that deliver enriched provider insights (cost, quality, network participation, performance, credentialing, claims-based data)
• Define and implement API data contracts and payload structures to ensure consistency and usability across consuming applications
• Develop and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms to ensure secure data exchange
• Integrate APIs with PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and other source systems to retrieve and serve data efficiently
• Implement robust error handling, logging, and monitoring frameworks for API reliability and observability
• Optimize API performance, scalability, and response times to support high-volume healthcare workflows
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure alignment between data models (golden record) and API outputs
• Support integration with downstream systems that surface provider insights during the referral decision-making process

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of backend/API development experience, building and supporting scalable, production-grade APIs in enterprise environments
• Strong REST API design expertise, including resource modeling, proper use of HTTP methods/status codes, versioning strategies, and designing APIs for downstream application consumption
• Advanced hands-on development with Node.js and Express, including building modular services, handling asynchronous operations, and deploying/maintaining APIs in production
• API security and authentication experience, including implementing OAuth2, JWT, and role-based access controls, with a strong understanding of securing sensitive data in transit
• Secure API development best practices, including HTTPS, encryption, rate limiting, and protection against common vulnerabilities (e.g., injection, token misuse), especially in regulated or healthcare environments
• Strong experience with data contract and payload design, creating consistent, scalable API schemas that support complex datasets (e.g., enriched provider records with cost, quality, and network insights)
• Experience with API documentation tools (Swagger/OpenAPI), ensuring clear, standardized documentation for endpoints, request/response structures, and authentication methods
• Experience integrating APIs with enterprise data platforms, including:
○ PostgreSQL (querying, performance optimization, relational data models)
○ Snowflake (data warehouse integration and querying)
○ Other upstream systems (e.g., claims, payer feeds, credentialing systems)
• Strong understanding of error handling and resiliency, including standardized error responses, exception handling, and building fault-tolerant APIs
• Experience with logging, monitoring, and observability, ensuring API health, performance tracking, and troubleshooting capabilities in production environments
• Performance tuning and optimization experience, including query optimization, caching, pagination, and designing APIs that can handle high-volume, low-latency workloads
• Ability to build APIs that expose enriched, aggregated data, supporting downstream applications that surface insights (cost, quality, network status, performance) within workflow-driven processes like specialty referrals

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience working with healthcare data, including:
○ Provider data
○ Claims data
○ Credentialing or payer systems
• Familiarity with data integration pipelines and golden record concepts
• Experience supporting platforms that enable clinical or referral workflows
