Job Description
A large Retail customer is seeking a Director of Real Estate Development to join their team. This team is dedicated to accelerate company strategy by finding new sites, opening new stores, relocating strong ones, rebuilding older ones, optimizing our existing network across North America. You will be supporting these goals through managing your team of Development Managers (5). You will also be responsible for communicating, coordinating, and building support with our regional and operations teams, marketing teams, fuels teams, our construction team, and related internal and external stakeholders. The team does have a number of projects that are in flight that will require attention (approval stage through opening phase) and ownership of those projects as well as continuing to build the pipeline through sourcing new deals will be expected.
This is a net new position due to Company growth and will be absorbing a team of 5 managers. The first 60-90 days would be spent integrating into the role, team, evaluating the team environment and bandwidth to determine any necessary growth or trainings.
This role would be onsite full time with travel included (up to 50% travel) - Company vehicle provided, majority of travel would be driving and limited overnights.

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required.
5+ years relevant work experience with Real Estate, Retail Site Selection, Construction, Engineering, Project Entitlement, Strategy, Finance, Environmental Compliance, Data Analytics, Economic Evaluation, M&A, Engineering and Design and Procurement.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and continually prioritize and re-prioritize tasks as new projects are assigned.
Must possess strong analytical skills, a strategic mind and have a strong attention to detail.
Must be comfortable speaking and communicating to the team, third parties and senior leadership.
Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency, and ability to become proficient with additional software and applications.
Prior leadership or management experience
Travel up to 50% of the time - primarily by car/day trips. Company vehicle would be provided. Including travel to: TN, KY, IN, STL, AL
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Extensive experience working directly in Operations is very highly preferred. This includes but is not limited to P&L management.
Financial education/background desired; knowledge of general budget planning/procedures preferred
