Job Description

Job Description:
Insight Global is seeking a Gas Engineer to support a major regulated utility client in the NYC area. This role sits within the Central Engineering division on the Gas Operations team and is primarily focused on LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) plant engineering at the Astoria LNG facility, a critical utility asset that is maintained and operated year round to support system reliability.

This is not a street gas or distribution role. The Engineer will support an operating LNG plant, providing hands on engineering support for mechanical, piping, and electrical systems, and serving as the technical bridge between plant operations and engineering teams.

Under direct supervision, the Engineer supports projects of basic to moderate complexity from design through construction and commissioning, while also supporting equipment performance, reliability, and operational readiness. The role involves a mix of office and field work, including regular presence at the LNG plant to observe equipment condition, support maintenance and construction activities, and resolve field issues.

This position requires a strong operations mindset, similar to supporting a power substation, with a heavy emphasis on safety, collaboration, and compliance in a regulated utility environment.

Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary engineering interface between LNG plant operations and engineering teams
• Support the performance, reliability, and maintenance of LNG plant equipment
• Provide engineering oversight for mechanical, piping, and electrical systems within the LNG facility
• Support rotating equipment, piping systems, vaporizers, and associated LNG infrastructure
• Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and technical evaluations
• Support projects from design through construction and startup, including:
o Budgeting support
o Contractor coordination and bid evaluation
o Construction oversight
o Equipment testing and commissioning
• Coordinate with internal engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and geotechnical teams as needed
• Provide field support to resolve installation or performance issues
• Participate in safety meetings and ensure compliance with utility and process safety standards
• Provide on call and emergency response support as required, including nights, weekends, or holidays
