Job Summary
Insight Global is hiring a Field Engineer / Make‑Ready Engineer to support overhead electric distribution and utility pole engineering work throughout Staten Island. This role blends hands‑on field data collection with analytical design engineering, supporting pole attachment reviews, make‑ready design, and permitting efforts in collaboration with Con Edison.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform overhead electric distribution design engineering, with a focus on make‑ready analysis for utility poles.
• Conduct field walkouts and data collection (approximately 2–3 field days per week), evaluating existing pole conditions and identifying required engineering work.
• Assess poles that are jointly owned and support new antenna and fiber optic attachments, determining necessary construction and clearance requirements.
• Prepare and analyze make‑ready and overhead design packages, including calculated units (CUs) and construction unit detailing.
• Support permitting and coordination with DOT and other local entities, particularly for pole replacements and infrastructure modifications.
• Collaborate closely with utilities, field teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and client standards.
