Job Description

*This is a 3 month contract to start. If this person performs well, the end client will extend the contract by a year to begin with*

The Handyman supports day‑to‑day facility maintenance and minor repairs within a large fulfillment or distribution center. This role focuses exclusively on non‑licensed, non‑certification‑required maintenance tasks to ensure the building, workspaces, and support areas remain safe, functional, and well‑maintained. The Handyman works in a fast‑paced industrial environment and collaborates closely with facilities and operations teams while following all site safety policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance & Repairs

Perform minor repairs to walls, doors, floors, ceilings, and fixtures
Patch drywall, perform basic carpentry repairs, and replace damaged hardware
Assemble, adjust, and repair office furniture, shelving, storage racks, and workstations
Replace ceiling tiles, floor tiles, door handles, hinges, and other non‑structural components

Facility Upkeep

Conduct routine inspections of work areas, break rooms, restrooms, and offices
Perform minor painting and touch‑up work
Install signage, safety equipment, mirrors, and bulletin boards
Support layout changes by moving furniture or non‑powered equipment

Basic Equipment & Systems Support (Non‑Licensed)

Replace light fixtures and bulbs where no license or certification is required
Perform basic troubleshooting of non‑critical equipment (e.g., carts, lockers, pallet jacks)
Assist licensed technicians by preparing work areas, tools, or materials as directed
Properly identify and report issues involving electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire systems, or machinery that require licensed personnel

Safety & Compliance

Follow all site safety protocols, PPE requirements, and standard operating procedures
Maintain clean, organized, and hazard‑free work areas
Promptly report safety hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions
Accurately document completed tasks and maintenance requests per site procedures.

This position does NOT perform:

Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or mechanical work requiring licenses or certifications
Work on fire protection systems, high‑voltage equipment, or powered industrial machinery
Structural modifications or code‑regulated construction activities

Required Skills & Experience

- 1–3 years of experience in general handyman, maintenance, or facilities support
- Proficiency with basic hand and power tools
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, work orders, and safety guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience in large industrial, warehouse, or commercial facilities
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
General knowledge of workplace safety practices
