Job Description

The Staff Civil Designer contributes to all phases of civil project development, including planning, site evaluations, design, and preparation of construction documents. Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, this role supports a diverse range of project types and clients by producing high‑quality drawings, calculations, and technical documents. The designer applies industry standards, design codes, and engineering principles to create accurate, well‑coordinated civil design solutions. They build the entire civil site in Civil 3D—grading, roads, utilities, stormwater, and site infrastructure—then generate the plans, profiles, and construction documents for complex industrial, mission‑critical, and aerospace facilities.

Responsibilities:
Design and develop civil engineering components such as site layouts, land development plans, roadways, storm drainage and stormwater systems, water and sanitary sewer utilities, traffic control plans, and facility/airport‑related design elements.
Produce detailed drawings and layouts, performing design calculations and analysis for complex, non‑routine assignments.
Apply established civil design methods, including sequencing, presentation standards, component sizing, and interpretation of engineering sketches.
Implement design updates, markups, and revisions throughout project development.
Analyze reports, maps, surveys, test results, and topographical/geologic information to support design decisions.
Conduct quality reviews of design drawings, confirming accuracy, completeness, and adherence to scope, budget, and schedule.
Prepare volume calculations for excavation, dredging, and site grading activities.
Integrate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into civil design deliverables.
Maintain organized project files, drawing revisions, and related documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3-15 years of design experience within Civil 3D
--- Grading knowledge, pipe networks expertise, utilities, storm drainage, site layouts, roadways
- 3-15 years of industry-specific experience (Mission Critical, Aerospace/Industrial, Food + Beverage Manufacturing)
--- Site development and land development focus
--- Skilled with feature lines and comfortable with grading tools and creating surfaces
