Job Description

A client is seeking a Senior DataStage Developer for a contract role that can sit remotely. This consultant will be responsible for the design, development, support, and ongoing enhancement of enterprise ETL solutions using IBM DataStage. This role supports critical business processes by developing and maintaining batch integrations, consumer data feeds, and vendor integrations while ensuring platform stability, data quality, and operational excellence. The position requires strong hands-on DataStage expertise, deep SQL skills, and the ability to support production environments in a fast-paced enterprise setting.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. DataStage Development & Support
• Design, develop, test, and maintain IBM DataStage ETL jobs supporting enterprise integrations and data pipelines.
• Support day-to-day operations of DataStage applications, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
• Perform job scheduling and dependency management using enterprise schedulers (e.g., IWA or equivalent).
• Enforce coding standards, naming conventions, and best practices for new and modified DataStage jobs.
2. Data Integration & Feeds
• Develop and support Consumer Data Feeds (CDFs) and batch integrations for internal teams, brands, and external vendors.
• Create SQL views and transformations to support downstream reporting and analytics.
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data delivered through ETL processes.
3. Platform & Production Support
• Maintain and support the IBM DataStage platform, including job migrations, parameter management, and environmental health.
• Participate in 24x7 production support rotations and respond to incidents as assigned.
• Collaborate with platform administrators and architects on upgrades, migrations, and performance improvements.
4. Collaboration & Delivery
• Partner with business stakeholders, vendors, and cross functional IT teams to deliver integration solutions.
• Provide estimates and technical input for funded projects and enhancement requests.
• Maintain work items and production changes in Azure DevOps (ADO) or equivalent lifecycle tools.

Required Skills & Experience

Advanced experience developing and supporting IBM DataStage - job design, deployment, administration support
Strong experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
Proven experience troubleshooting complex ETL and batch processing issues.
Linux /shell scripting experience
Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD and work tracking tools

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with Informatica Cloud/Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS)
Job scheduling tools (IWA or equivalent)
