Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an HVAC Estimator for a leading mechanical construction contractor supporting projects across Southern California. This position is full-time and onsite in one of two Southern California offices.
The HVAC Estimator will be responsible for all phases of the estimating and bidding process, including preconstruction services and detailed mechanical takeoffs. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of mechanical construction bidding processes and the ability to develop complete, detailed estimates from incomplete design documents. This role will support large commercial projects such as hospitals, central plants, higher education, life sciences, laboratory, and other technically demanding facilities.
Responsibilities include reviewing bid documents, attending pre-bid meetings, performing quantity takeoffs, assisting with material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing, and supporting proposal preparation. Estimates will be prepared using Autobid or comparable on-screen estimating software. The HVAC Estimator will collaborate closely with other estimators, design partners, and internal project teams—including construction and CAD detailing staff—to support design-assist and design-build efforts and ensure estimates align with project scope, budget, and constructability requirements.

• 3–5 years of HVAC or mechanical estimating experience in commercial construction
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, piping, and chiller systems
• Proficient with Autobid or similar estimating software (e.g., SoftPro)
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and Outlook
• Ability to read and interpret HVAC, mechanical, and piping drawings
• Mechanical or piping background preferred; HVAC experience ideal
