Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support the Accounting, Payroll, and Human Resources teams through project-based work, reconciliations, and financial analysis. This role will play a key part in supporting payroll-related accounting activities, including monitoring payroll expenses, preparing journal entries, and reconciling payroll liability and expense accounts to ensure alignment with approved budgets and funding.
The Senior Staff Accountant will partner closely with Payroll and HR to review headcount, funding, and payroll data, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies across systems while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information. This role will also support core general accounting functions such as month-end and year-end close, general ledger reconciliations, audit support, and compliance-related reporting, including limited exposure to Federal Work-Study and international payroll tax processes. Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally are critical for success in this role.

Required Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of experience in a senior-level accounting or staff accounting role
• Strong experience with general accounting functions, including: Month-end close, General ledger maintenance, Account reconciliations, Audit support
• Advanced proficiency in Excel (reconciliations, variance analysis, data review)
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to own and resolve discrepancies
• Ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, payroll, and HR stakeholders

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Accounting experience within higher education or a similarly complex organization
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
