Job Description

A client in the Detroit area is seeking a HR Manager for a contract to hire opportunity. The Human Resources manager will oversee all day‑to‑day HR operations and serve as the primary point of contact for employees and leadership. This role is responsible for managing full‑cycle hiring, onboarding, compliance, benefits administration, and employee relations while operating as a one‑person HR department. The position plays a critical role in supporting organizational growth, seasonal staffing needs, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
- The HR professional will manage full‑cycle recruiting and onboarding processes, ensuring a smooth and compliant experience for all new hires. This includes conducting phone screens after resumes are reviewed by hiring managers, coordinating new‑hire training, and leading employee orientation programs.

- This role is responsible for maintaining HR compliance and reporting, including handling employee documentation related to FMLA, PTO tracking, employment verifications, and student loan paperwork.

- The individual will ensure accurate recordkeeping and adherence to applicable labor and employment regulations.

- The position will coordinate employee benefits administration, including leading open enrollment activities each November and serving as a liaison between employees and benefits providers. Performance review cycles will be managed through Paychex, including tracking, documentation, and support for leadership.

- As the sole HR representative, this role will independently lead all HR functions and act as a trusted resource for employees and management.

- Additionally, the position will oversee seasonal staffing efforts, including coordinating the hiring and onboarding of approximately 25–30 summer camp employees each year.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors Degree in HR, Education, or related field
5-7+ years of professional experience in a HR role
Experience with HRIS Software (Paychex preferred, ADP, UKG, Bamboo etc)
