Job Description

A Field Engineer contributes directly to their operational performance by being physically present at supplier sites to:
• Secure On Time Delivery (OTD) and recover delayed schedules
• Safeguard product conformity and prevent quality escapes
• Accelerate root cause analysis and drive corrective actions through to closure
• Provide real-time visibility to Safran teams (SED / Actuation) and coordinate with Quality, Industrialization, Supply Chain, and Engineering

Key Competencies Required

A. Supplier Crisis Management (Top Priority)
Core skills
• Rapid assessment of supplier capacity, constraints, bottlenecks, and quality/logistics issues
• Ability to build and lead a recovery plan (containment → stabilization → prevention)
• Running crisis governance: daily reviews, KPI boards, escalations, decision logs
• Managing competing priorities (safety, quality, delivery, cost) effectively
Observable behaviors
• Establishes a war room cadence (daily stand-ups, dashboards, issue lists)
• Implements immediate containment: stop ship, sorting, quarantines, reinforced inspection
• Produces clear RAG status with risks and mitigation plans
• Escalates early with factual, evidence based information

B. Industrial & Process Knowledge
Core skills
• Understanding of manufacturing flows (machining, assembly, special processes, testing)
• Ability to detect process weaknesses and control gaps
• Familiarity with PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA basics
• Working knowledge of FAI and industrial validation principles
Observable behaviors
• Maps process end-to-end and identifies constraints
• Challenges “paper compliance” vs. actual shop-floor practices
• Connects NCs to control failures and proposes improvements

C. Quality & Compliance (Aerospace Standards)
Core skills
• Solid understanding of nonconformity management and traceability
• Hands-on experience with 8D, Ishikawa, and 5 Why
• Classification of findings (critical/major/minor) with objective evidence
• Experience with regulated audit environments
Observable behaviors
• Verifies evidence and confirms root causes are addressed
• Ensures robust, measurable, and verified corrective actions
• Strengthens processes to prevent recurrence (training, documentation, control plan updates)

D. Supply Chain Execution (Expediting)
Core skills
• Monitoring of PO lines, WIP status, and capacity versus demand
• Building production & shipment plans by part number and priority
• Managing logistics constraints: packaging, export, customs, freight modes
Observable behaviors
• Maintains a credible commit plan and anticipates slippages
• Drives suppliers to publish output and shipment confirmations
• Aligns priorities with Safran planners and program teams

Required Skills & Experience

• 8D / RCA methods, containment plans
• Background in Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
• Previous experience in process improvement

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Excel / Power BI basics
• Familiarity with QMS tools
• Process mapping & Manufacturing , bottleneck analysis
• Takt time reasoning, capacity analysis
• Metrology and inspection basics
• 8D / RCA methods, containment plans
• Audit preparation and reporting
• KPI monitoring (OTD, escapes, yield, backlog, cycle time)
