Job Description

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) is the servant leader and chief facilitator of the C&I Agile Release Train (ART). The RTE ensures predictable delivery, operational stability, and value realization across Controls & Instrumentation initiatives by enabling teams, removing impediments, and aligning execution to business priorities, safety, and reliability standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
ART Leadership & Facilitation
• Serve as the primary facilitator for the C&I ART, enabling effective execution of PI Planning, Iteration Reviews, System Demos, Inspect & Adapt, and ART syncs.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, transparency, and accountability across teams.
• Coach Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and leaders on SAFe practices and lean-agile mindset.
Delivery Execution & Flow
• Drive predictable delivery of PI Objectives, milestones, and committed outcomes.
• Track and improve flow metrics (predictability, throughput, WIP, dependency aging).
• Identify, escalate, and resolve cross-team and cross-domain dependencies and risks.
Governance & Risk Management
• Partner with Architecture, Engineering, Operations, and Cybersecurity to ensure solutions meet safety, reliability, and compliance requirements.
• Facilitate risk identification, ROAMing, and mitigation across the ART.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise delivery governance and non-functional requirements.
Stakeholder Alignment
• Act as the primary execution interface between Business Owners, Product Management, System Architects, and delivery teams.
• Enable clear communication of progress, risks, and trade-offs to leadership.
• Support Lean Business Case execution and value tracking.
Operational Excellence
• Integrate C&I delivery with plant operations, maintenance, and capital execution rhythms.
• Promote automation, standardization, and observability across delivery and operations.
• Champion data-driven decision-making using delivery and reliability metrics.

Location: San Antonio, Onsite 4 days/week
Duration: 12 month contract, extensions likely, perm possible
Rate: 65-70/hour

Required Skills & Experience

• Experience in industrial, C&I, OT, or regulated environments
• Ability to manage complex dependencies across technology and operations
