Job Description
A large enterprise client is seeking a Senior AI Architect to help establish an internal AI foundation and operating model. This role focuses on developing an enterprise AI Playbook, defining AI architecture and governance, and enabling internal teams as the organization scales AI capabilities.
Responsibilities include designing AI architecture patterns, evaluating and selecting open‑source AI frameworks, defining AI intake and deployment processes, and providing hands‑on guidance to engineering teams. A core component of this role is training and mentoring four internal engineers as they transition into AI Engineer roles through April. The consultant will also facilitate alignment across software delivery, DevOps, security, and legal stakeholders.
This is a short‑term engagement designed to build a durable foundation and transfer knowledge, with the intent to phase out external consulting over time.
Contract: 3–4 months
• First 2 weeks full‑time discovery
Ongoing: ~6 hours or more/week
Pay Rate: 100-120/hr

Required Skills & Experience
• Senior‑level AI architecture
• Direct experience creating an AI playbook or similar AI governance framework
• Strong knowledge of AI tools, risks, and open‑source frameworks
• Experience supporting medium‑to‑large enterprise environments
• Proven ability to ramp quickly and deliver value in short‑term engagements
Strong communication and stakeholder‑alignment skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• AI engineering experience (implementation and fine‑tuning decisions)
• Experience training or mentoring engineers into AI roles
• Azure experience (not required)
Experience working with sensitive data environments
