Job Description
We are seeking a Database Engineer to support an enterprise HR system migration from Oracle to Workday. This role is heavily focused on data analysis, cleansing, and database creation to ensure a clean, reliable data set is delivered for downstream Workday integrations. This is a hands‑on, technical role best suited for candidates with DBA‑like skillsets, strong SQL expertise, and experience preparing enterprise data for system migrations. The role will partner closely with internal integration teams but will not own integrations or BI/reporting work.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze existing HR data from Oracle systems to assess quality, structure, and readiness for migration to Workday
Cleanse, standardize, and deduplicate data (e.g., employee records, addresses, location data)
Design and create databases and schemas to store migration data in Azure
Load and validate data into SQL Server or PostgreSQL databases hosted in Azure
Ensure data accuracy and consistency to support downstream integrations
Work deeply with data to identify edge cases, duplication, and structural issues, particularly around location and address data
Document data structures, assumptions, and cleansing logic as needed
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align on data expectations and timelines

Required Skills & Experience
Strong experience working with relational databases (SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL)
Advanced SQL skills, including data analysis, validation, and transformation
Proven experience with data cleansing, normalization, and deduplication
Experience creating database schemas and structures from scratch
Familiarity with Azure environments (Azure SQL, managed databases, or similar)
Background in data migration or large‑scale data preparation efforts
