Job Description
Insight Global is searching for an intermediate electrical designer to join a single discipline consulting company specializing in Electrical Design Engineering. The team is dedicated to delivering diverse and innovative engineering solutions for challenging projects. With a focus on practical designs, we prioritize customer satisfaction and project success.
This role is ideal for a motivated electrical designer with hands-on experience in commercial and multi-family building projects. The successful candidate will work closely with Engineers, CAD/Revit specialists, and other consulting disciplines to deliver high-quality, code-compliant electrical designs on complex building projects.
In this role, the Intermediate Electrical Designer will support Project Engineers and Senior Designers by developing complete electrical system designs for commercial and multi‑family residential buildings. Responsibilities include performing electrical calculations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code—such as feeder and branch circuit sizing, overcurrent protection, transformers, motor loads, voltage drop, and applicable lighting or lightning-related calculations—and producing detailed designs in AutoCAD and Revit for power distribution, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm, life safety, and low-voltage/communications systems. The designer will also maintain and update drawing packages as design development progresses, complete basic lighting point‑by‑point calculations using AGi32 or Visual, and coordinate closely with other consulting disciplines to ensure fully integrated building systems. This role requires prior experience delivering full electrical designs on buildings typically nearing 50,000 square feet.
