Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Field Service Engineer to troubleshoot complex engineering issues, enhance machine performance, and support customers on-site. This role combines mechanical, electrical/controls expertise throughout machine build, commissioning, and field service phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Mechanical and Controls Engineers and Shop Coordinators during machine build
- Learn the ins/outs of each of the machines the company sells and services
- Travel to customer sites to install, commission, and perform runoff of new machines (primarily domestic up to 75%.)
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls-related issues
- Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on company equipment in the field
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel on proper machine operation and troubleshooting
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to provide feedback on machine performance and recommend improvements
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions
- Support debug and testing of machines during in-house build and runoff phases as needed
- Document service activities, create detailed reports, and maintain accurate records of parts usage and machine history
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols at company facilities and customer sites
- Stay current with industry advancements and company product updates

Required Skills & Experience
- Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical training
- 3+ years of field service or hands-on experience with industrial machinery, machine tools, or automation equipment
- Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls systems
- Proficiency in reading schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Working knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc) and HMI interfaces
- Strong customer-facing communication skills, both verbal and written
- Valid driver’s license and passport (or ability to obtain)
- Physical ability to perform hands-on work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working in industrial environments
- Comfortable with 50% travel including some extended out-of-town stays
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience with CNC programming and machine debugging - Automotive powertrain or precision manufacturing experience highly desirable
