Job Description

Position: Cloud Engineer I
Openings: 1
Salary: $70,000-80,000k
Location: 641 S Street NW Washington, DC 20001
Schedule:
• Core hours: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
• Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
○ First 90 days = onsite 5x/week
On-Call / Weekends / Holidays:
• On-call support required on an as-needed basis
• No weekends
Interview Process:
• Round 1: Virtual interview with the Senior Manager of Infrastructure
• Final Round: Onsite interview with the team

Overview: Insight Global is seeking a Network Engineer II to support a large, enterprise‑scale university network infrastructure. This role supports a recently refreshed and stable network environment and serves as a key escalation point for troubleshooting, monitoring, and risk evaluation. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with strong troubleshooting instincts, a positive attitude, and a desire to grow within a complex, campus‑wide environment.

Responsibilities:
• Monitor and evaluate network health using ServiceNow, performing high‑level dashboard reviews and assessing potential risks in the absence of a traditional NOC.
• Act as an escalation resource for network tickets and P1 outage response, diagnosing issues and clearly communicating root cause and next steps.
• Support and maintain LAN, WAN, and wireless (Wi‑Fi) networks across a large campus environment.
• Work with routers, switches, and wireless access points to ensure reliable internet and network performance.
• Support campus‑wide VoIP/telephony systems, including thousands of IP phones.
• Partner with vendors during new building launches, working alongside implementation teams and assuming ownership post‑deployment.
• Serve as an escalation point for technicians by leveraging and helping standardize network documentation and SharePoint diagrams.
• Collaborate with the infrastructure team, focusing on independent issue diagnosis and proactive problem identification.
• Utilize and support technologies including Cisco, Palo Alto, Juniper, and Extreme.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:
• Bachelor's degree.
• Cisco environment experience (Cisco ISE understanding is key).
• 4+ years network engineering experience.
• Strong TCP/IP, routing, switching.

Certifications:
• Cisco (incl. Wireless / Meraki)
• Aruba Wireless
• Extreme Wireless

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:
• Wireless expertise
• Experience in large, distributed networks
