Job Description

The role is focused on implementing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to drive operational excellence, reduce toil, and deliver high availability for business-critical trading systems. The role will require close collaboration with trading desk personnel to ensure system stability and rapid incident response to ensure zero downtime during market hours. The role requires deep application knowledge, rapid troubleshooting under extreme pressure, and on-call rotation responsibility.

Required Skills & Experience

1) Minimum 7-10 years of experience in Production Support, preferably in banking, financial services, or Capital Markets environment supporting business-critical applications

Proven track record supporting business-critical trading platforms, order management systems, or risk management applications in banking/financial services
Deep understanding of trading operations: deal lifecycle, trade booking, settlement (T+0, T+1, T+2), reconciliation, market data flows
Experience in managing production incidents with direct business impact (millions in trades at risk)
Comfort working under high-pressure conditions during live market hours (8 AM - 6 PM ET typical)
On-call rotation experience with 24/7 incident response responsibility
2) Strong in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Fundamentals

SLO/SLI expertise: Define Service Level Objectives (e.g., 99.9% API uptime) and Service Level Indicators (latency, error rate, throughput)
Error budget management: Calculate and track allowable failure tolerance, make data-driven reliability vs. velocity tradeoffs
Incident management: Lead incident response following ITIL processes, coordinate war rooms, communicate status to executives
Blameless postmortems: Facilitate root cause analysis focused on systemic improvements, not individual blame
Toil reduction: Identify and automate repetitive manual tasks to free up engineering time
Observability mindset: Build monitoring, logging, and distributed tracing to understand distributed system behavior
3) Candidate with Full-Stack Technical Proficiency experienced in below technologies

Backend: Java/Spring Boot, REST APIs, WebLogic, Tomcat, MuleSoft, Redis, JMS
Frontend/Mobile: Angular, React, iOS, Android (UI troubleshooting, crash log analysis)
Cloud: AWS (EC2 for vendor application support and cloud-native services)
Database/ETL: Oracle, SQL Server (query tuning, deadlocks), Informatica workflows and ETL processes
Monitoring: Splunk, Dynatrace, Autosys job schedulers
Automation: Python, Unix shell (Bash), PowerShell scripting
4) Incident Command & Communication Skills

Crisis leadership: Host and lead triage calls during outages with 10+ participants
Executive communication: Translate technical issues into business impact for business stakeholders ("database timeout" → "trading halted, $10M exposure")
Stakeholder management: Keep traders, managers, and executives informed with timely, accurate updates during incidents
5) High-Pressure Performance & Soft Skills

Grace under fire: Remain calm, methodical, and effective when systems are down and traders are shouting
Rapid decision-making: Troubleshoot complex issues in minutes (not hours) when every second counts
Multitasking: Manage multiple concurrent incidents during high-volatility market events
Proactive ownership: Treat trading platform applications as personal responsibility - won't rest until incidents are fully resolved
Collaboration: Work effectively with developers, infrastructure teams, business stakeholders across global teams in hybrid environment
Flexibility: Available for extended hours, weekend work, and on-call rotations as required for 24/7 trading support

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Prior experience supporting trading platforms in financial services/Capital Markets or working directly with trading desk users

2) Knowledge of distributed systems, high-availability architectures, and performance tuning

3) Familiarity with cloud platforms and CI/CD pipelines

4) Hands on experience

Informatica workflows and ETL processes
Java-based applications (Weblogic, REST APIs)
Monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace)
Autosys or similar job schedulers
