Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an Installer Journeyman based in Dahlgren, Virginia. The Installer Journeyman is responsible for supporting the installation, testing, and maintenance of structured cabling and telecommunications infrastructure. This role requires an active Secret Clearance along with a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience. The Installer Journeyman performs fiber optic fusion splicing and cable terminations using Corning UniCam Fiber Optic Connectors and 3M Hot Melt, assists with the buildout of telecommunications rooms in compliance with established specifications, and installs, tests, and labels wall‑mounted and surface‑mounted networking outlets supporting both copper and fiber media. Responsibilities include troubleshooting and testing structured cabling systems across entrance facilities, equipment rooms, backbone cabling, horizontal cabling, telecommunications rooms, and work areas, while ensuring optimal transmission performance for copper and fiber media. The role also involves installing cable support systems such as cable trays, conduits, and vertical raceways, documenting configuration changes, and submitting updates to the Installation Team Lead for incorporation into communications diagrams. Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to produce clear, concise project reports. The salary for this role ranges from $50,000-$60,000, based on experience.

Required Skills & Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent and two years' experience
• Experience performing fiber optic fusion splicing and cable terminations utilizing Corning UniCam Fiber Optic Connectors and 3M Hot Melt
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills to write concise project reports
• Experience assisting with buildout of telecommunications rooms in compliance with established specifications
• Experience performing troubleshooting and testing of structured cabling systems, including equipment rooms, backbone cabling, horizontal cabling, entrance facilities, telecommunication rooms, and work areas
• Experience installing, testing, and labeling wall and surface mounted networking outlets supporting copper and fiber media
• Experience ensuring optimal transmission performance for copper and fiber media
• Experience documenting configuration modifications and submitting them to the Installation Team lead to update Communications Diagrams
• Experience installing cable support systems, including Cable Tray, Conduits, and Vertical Raceway
