Job Description

The Shipper is responsible for the safe, compliant preparation and shipment of materials and chemicals via ground, air, and ocean transportation. This role requires a strong working knowledge of hazardous materials regulations, hands-on warehouse experience, and the ability to operate material handling equipment in an industrial environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and capable of performing physically demanding tasks while adhering to all regulatory and company requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

- Prepare, package, label, and ship materials and chemicals in compliance with applicable regulations.
Ensure full compliance with:
- DOT regulations for ground (truck) shipments
- IATA regulations for air shipments
- IMDG regulations for ocean shipments
- Complete and maintain accurate shipping documentation and records.
- Operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks safely and efficiently.
- Inspect shipments for accuracy, proper packaging, and regulatory compliance prior to dispatch.
- Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Coordinate with internal teams and carriers to ensure timely and compliant shipments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and work area.

Minimum Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; or
Three to five years of related industrial, shipping, or maintenance experience and/or training; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills and Abilities
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Forklift / Powered Industrial Truck Operator’s License.
- Demonstrated understanding of hazardous materials shipping regulations (DOT, IATA, IMDG).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
- Basic computer proficiency; experience with email, internet, Microsoft Word, and Excel is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
