Job Description

The Chef de Cuisine will work closely with the Executive Chef to lead daily culinary operations for a high-end steakhouse in the Kansas City area.

Key Responsibilities Include:
• Personally, and alongside kitchen staff, facilitate all food preparation, presentation, and service procedures as directed by the Executive Chef.
• Monitor quantity of prepared food and ensure that quality and quantity standards are consistently met.
• Ensure proper rotation and utilization of stored food to minimize waste.
• Oversee food preparation to ensure proper consistency, flavor, presentation, and portion control.
• Monitor staffing levels, early out requests, and overtime.
• Delegate work assignments to cooks and kitchen staff.
• Monitor employee performance, provide coaching, and administer disciplinary action when necessary.
• Requisition stock according to business needs/pars.
• Ensure kitchen and storage areas remain clean, sanitary, and compliant with health and safety standards.
• Maintain a safe, hazard-free kitchen and storage environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills & Experience

• 2-5+ years of experience as an Executive Chef or similar position
• A la carte, high-end, classic scratch cooking experience
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience and a strong team player
• Continuous improvement mindset related to safety, sanitation, food trends, and culinary standards (classic vs. modern)
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
