Job Description

One of Insight Global's clients is looking to hire for a mid-level Business Development Representative to support and scale their growth. This individual will need to be local working out of the McLean, VA office 5 days per week, Monday-Friday with occasional travel expected (20-30%).

This individual will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, cultivating customer relationships, and driving revenue growth while collaborating with internal teams to deliver high-value solutions across defense, aerospace, wind and energy, steel, and heavy industrial markets. This team operates at the front end of customer engagement, helping customers understand how solutions address complex logistics and transportation challenges.

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or project/defense logistic or similar field with a strong understanding of how to win and grow customer accounts.
• Proven sales success — you have consistently brought in new customers, kept existing ones, and closed deals that contributed to revenue growth.
• Strong experience managing a sales pipeline, including identifying leads, qualifying opportunities, shaping customer needs, presenting solutions, negotiating, and closing deals.
• Track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets, showing you can deliver results in a performance driven role.
• Strong networking and relationship building skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Strategic thinker with analytical capabilities to translate insights into actions.
• Self-starter with a results-driven mindset, comfortable in a commission-based environment
• Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in CRM platforms (HubSpot, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience working in industries such as defense, aerospace, wind/energy, steel, logistics, or large industrial projects is a plus.
• US Army Transportation Corp or similar military department experience with current network definite plus
• Background in supply chain, logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, or 3PL work is highly beneficial, especially if you’ve handled complex or specialized cargo.
• Experience working closely with marketing and technical teams to support sales efforts, develop customer messaging, and help position innovative solutions effectively.
• Ability to clearly explain product value, present solutions to customers, and support quotes, proposals, and pricing as part of the sales process.
• Experience in defense, aerospace, wind/energy, steel, and/or large industrial project sectors strongly preferred.
• Background in supply chain, logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, and/or 3PL operations highly desirable.
