Job Description
Overview
The Engineering Design Specialist supports complex security, mechanical, and electronic design projects in collaboration with a Senior Engineer. This role is responsible for producing detailed CAD drawings, performing design calculations, interpreting government specifications, and developing comprehensive design packages used in large‑scale federal and commercial projects.
Design & Technical Work
Partner directly with the Senior Engineer to translate design tasks into accurate, high‑quality CAD drawings.
Develop and update design calculations following engineering standards and project requirements.
Compile, review, and incorporate field notes into design revisions and technical documentation.
Track down project data, validate accuracy, and determine what information is usable or needs correction.
Create and assemble detailed design packages — often 50–75 pages each — covering:
Boiler can systems
Multi‑drawing engineering sets
System layouts, schematics, and supporting calculations
Perform red‑lining, updates, and corrections throughout the multi‑month design and review lifecycle.
Documentation & Compliance
Interpret and apply government specifications to ensure designs meet required standards.
Review contract documents, spec sheets, engineering standards, and security system requirements.
Ensure all documentation aligns with industry, customer, and internal compliance protocols.
Team & Project Goals
Deliver accurate, fully compliant design packages that support the engineering team’s broader project execution.
Increase design efficiency and accuracy through strong coordination with Senior Engineers.
Maintain high standards of quality control, documentation accuracy, and engineering rigor.
Support the team’s mission of producing reliable, secure, and standards‑based technical designs for federal and commercial clients.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering field
- 2+ years of experience working with engineering specifications, security system designs, building system designs
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- RCDD
- Cad drafting experience
- experience with Lenel, Software House, Genetec, Bosch, HID, Milestone
