Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Director of Testing to join a manufacturing company based in West Hartford, CT. The Director of Testing will lead the testing and development of new products. This role involves overseeing all testing activities for new product development, R&D and root cause. You'll collaborate closely with the VP of Engineering and Management team to ensure all designs meet stringent safety, functionality, and durability standards while conforming to the requirement set forth by customer specific requirements or internal requirements provided by product management. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

- Managing, mentoring, and growing a high-performing team of engineers and technicians. Fostering a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

-Experience leader with strong mechanical engineering background and expertise in testing, automation, and instrumentation.

- Develop and maintain a master testing schedule aligned with project timelines and priorities.

- Leading the integration of advanced test fixtures, sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems into design and development workflows.

-Maintain and calibrate all test equipment and instrumentation to ensure accuracy and reliability.

-Lead a growing testing team, currently composed of Test Technicians, and Test Engineers - this role has a focus of increasing headcount by 2026.

-Involvement with daily and weekly meetings and collaborating with various Engineers, Quality and Technicians.

Required Skills & Experience

-Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in product testing, validation, or design engineering, preferably in firearms or defense related industries.
-Proven leadership experience managing technical teams. Strong understanding of firearm mechanics, ballistics, and materials science.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and testing principles.

-Experience with AC225, MIL-STD, SAAMI, or similar standards.

-Proficiency in data acquisition systems, sensors, and analysis tools (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB, Excel, Minitab).

-Familiarity with CAD software (PTC Creo preferred) and technical documentation
