Insight Global is seeking a Manufacturing Maintenance Manager for a leading packaging manufacturing client. This individual will lead a large maintenance and technical organization responsible for driving machine reliability, equipment uptime, and overall plant performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives on the plant floor, enjoys developing teams, and can build credibility with both veteran and early-career technicians.
This role is heavily focused on leadership and maintenance reliability, with the immediate challenge of unifying a team that has experienced multiple management transitions while improving machine performance and accountability. The manager will oversee maintenance, engineering, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting a high-volume manufacturing operation. The position offers strong visibility within plant leadership, significant budget ownership, relocation assistance, and a $10,000 sign-on bonus for the right candidate. Responsibilities:
Lead and develop a maintenance, engineering, quality, and technical organization
Directly oversee 30+ maintenance technicians and technical personnel
Drive machine reliability and equipment uptime initiatives
Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor troubleshooting operational issues
Balance reactive maintenance activities with long-term maintenance strategy
Manage preventative and predictive maintenance programs
Develop and execute capital improvement projects
Oversee approximately $3M in capital spending and $6.6M repair budget activities
Coach, mentor, and develop both experienced and newer technicians
Build accountability and improve overall maintenance team performance
Collaborate with production and operations leadership to support plant goals
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and manufacturing efficiencies
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and maintenance standards
Support plant leadership and eventually assume broader facility responsibility when needed

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment and engineering-related role
5+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance, engineering, or technical teams
Proven experience leading large maintenance organizations (30+ technicians preferred)
Strong manufacturing maintenance and reliability background
Experience with machine uptime, preventative maintenance, and equipment reliability programs
Mechanical and electrical systems knowledge
Experience in automation/PLC manufacturing environments
Process engineering and reliability engineering experience
Demonstrated project and process management skills
Experience managing capital projects and budgets
Continuous improvement experience utilizing 6S, A3, or similar methodologies
Experience with CMMS platforms (SAP and/or Maintenance Connection preferred)
Strong leadership, accountability, and team-development skills
Ability to earn credibility on the plant floor and lead experienced technicians

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Experience in packaging, plastics, paper, food, or high-volume manufacturing environments
SAP experience
Maintenance Connection experience
Experience taking over struggling or transitioning maintenance organizations
Experience managing multi-million-dollar repair and capital budgets
Success building development plans and succession strategies for maintenance teams
