Job Description
This technician will support the facilities and mechanical systems for UL Solutions’ Northbrook campus, which includes lab environments requiring precise temperature and humidity control. The role is hands-on and mechanical in nature, focused heavily on cooling systems, chilled water equipment, and preventative maintenance.
The technician will troubleshoot and maintain HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, pumps, motors, air handlers, compressors, and pressure valves. This role requires independence, strong troubleshooting ability, and comfort working with specialized systems that differ from standard residential HVAC.

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of HVAC and mechanical maintenance experience
• Experience troubleshooting:
○ Boilers, chillers, compressors
○ Pumps, motors, pressure valves, air handlers
• Background in commercial and industrial environments
• Strong communication skills
• Self-starter, able to work independently after ramp-up
Comfortable with preventative maintenance programs
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Coming from a commercial HVAC or mechanical contractor
• Experience in large facilities or campuses
• Exposure to lab or humidity-controlled environments
• EPA Certification (Universal OR Type 2 / Type 3)
• Additional technical or educational degrees
