Job Description

This manufacturing consulting firm is looking for a Mechanical or Industrial Engineer to join their team in a highly visible, client-facing role. You’ll travel weekly to manufacturing plants, integrate with 2–10 person consulting teams, and own a defined workstream aligned to your strengths. Projects follow a clear cadence with Discovery, Strategy, and Implementation. You’ll work closely with plant and operations leaders to improve output, reduce changeover times, and optimize production flow. The strongest candidates are hands-on engineers with plant leadership experience, Lean/SMED expertise, and a track record of being promoted in operations-heavy environments.

Required Skills & Experience

Ability to obtain security clearance
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
3–10 years of hands-on manufacturing experience
Deep shop-floor experience (CNC machining, metals, castings, forgings, fabrication, sheet metal)
Strong Lean Manufacturing and SMED application experience
Proven ability to structure projects, own a workstream, and drive implementation
Willingness to travel every single week

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Aerospace & Defense manufacturing experience (ships, submarines, military equipment)
Exposure to finance/business decision-making
Automotive or Industrial manufacturing experience
