Job Description

Compensation:
$40/hr to $60/hr. - Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Day to Day Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain semantic and metrics layers that support reporting, analytics, and downstream consumption
Develop and manage dimensional data models (star and snowflake schemas) to enable consistent, performant analytics
Translate business logic and metric definitions into reusable, governed data models and curated datasets
Partner closely with analytics, reporting, and engineering teams to ensure data consistency and metric alignment across tools
Support consumption layers used by:

BI dashboards and reporting
Drill‑down analytics
Finance and operational use cases


Help standardize and scale a centralized semantic layer that enables consistent definitions across the organization
Maintain documentation for metrics, models, and semantic definitions to support governance and reuse
Contribute to core SQL‑based data engineering work when needed (modeling, transformations, optimization)

Required Skills & Experience

Strong SQL data engineering background
Proven experience with dimensional modeling:

Star schemas
Snowflake schemas


Hands‑on experience designing and supporting semantic or metrics layers
Ability to translate complex business rules into clean, reusable data models
Solid understanding of:

Metric consistency
Data definitions
Governance across reporting layers


Experience supporting analytics and reporting use cases, not just raw data pipelines
Strong communication skills — able to partner with business and technical stakeholders to clarify metric intent

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with BI semantic layer tools (e.g., AtScale or similar technologies)
Prior work on enterprise‑wide metric standardization initiatives
Experience supporting finance or operational reporting use cases
Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices
Background working in large, complex data environments with multiple downstream consumers
Experience enabling self‑service analytics through well‑designed semantic layers
