Job Description
We are seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support NAVFAC construction projects at NAS Pensacola and Corry Station. This individual will serve as the primary on site safety authority, responsible for implementing and administering the safety program in full compliance with EM 385-1-1 and 29 CFR 1926 requirements.
This is a field heavy, safety first role supporting construction projects valued at approximately $3–8M.
Day to Day Responsibilities
• Serve as the designated SSHO, meeting the requirements of EM 385 1 1 Section 1 and 01.A.17
• Ensure compliance with 29 CFR 1926.16 and all NAVFAC / federal safety requirements
• Be present on site at all times to implement and administer the government accepted Accident Prevention Plan (APP)
• Spend ~90% of time in the field, actively supporting construction activities
• Conduct daily safety inspections and monitor compliance with safety plans, AHAs, and building codes
• Prepare, review, and maintain:
o Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs)
o SDS / MSDS documentation
o Daily safety paperwork and reports
• Lead safety orientations and oversee active safety training compliance for all site personnel
• Investigate reported safety or quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
• Maintain accurate and organized safety documentation for NAVFAC and project recordkeeping
• Coordinate closely with project leadership, QC, and field supervision

Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience
Meets EM 385 1 1 Section 01.A.17 training, experience, and qualification requirements
Ability to work full time on site and provide hands on safety oversight
Strong working knowledge of:
o EM 385 1 1
o OSHA 29 CFR 1926
Local to the Pensacola, FL area
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Prior experience on NAVFAC, USACE, or other federal construction projects
Renovation project experience, especially in occupied or active facilities
Background as a Superintendent or Quality Control Manager
