Job Description
A client of Insight Global is seeking an experienced Network Planning Engineer (NPE) to join their team in Palm Bay, Florida. This individual will be responsible for planning, designing, analyzing, and supporting complex enterprise and mission-critical network infrastructures within highly secure environments.
The Network Planning Engineer will work closely with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and program teams to develop and maintain network architecture strategies that support both current and future operational requirements. This role will focus on capacity planning, traffic analysis, performance optimization, network modeling, and forecasting while ensuring the network environment remains scalable, secure, and highly available.
Key responsibilities include designing and recommending network solutions across LAN, WAN, MAN, wireless, and hybrid environments; evaluating network performance metrics; supporting infrastructure modernization initiatives; and assisting with troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues. The engineer will also develop technical documentation including network diagrams, implementation plans, standards, and configuration guidance.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience operating within regulated and secure environments, strong knowledge of modern networking technologies, and a proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. This position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph and will be performed entirely onsite in Palm Bay, FL.

Required Skills & Experience
Active TS/SCI Clearance with CI Polygraph
Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR 14+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree
Experience with network architecture, planning, and design in secure environments
Strong background in LAN, WAN, MAN, wireless, and hybrid network environments
Experience with capacity planning, traffic analysis, network modeling, and forecasting
Ability to develop network implementation, migration, and modernization strategies
Experience collaborating with cybersecurity and systems engineering teams
Ability to obtain and maintain IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent) within 3 months of start date
Strong technical documentation experience including network diagrams, implementation plans, and design packages
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or federal government programs
CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIA, JNCIP, Security+, or similar certifications
Experience with network modeling and simulation tools
Knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN)
Experience with network automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC)
Cloud networking and hybrid cloud connectivity experience
Understanding of Zero Trust architecture and secure network design
Experience with network monitoring and management platforms
Background leading network modernization and infrastructure refresh efforts
Experience mentoring junior engineers
