Job Description

A client of Insight Global is seeking an experienced Information Security Systems Engineer (ISSE) to support the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure information systems across enterprise and program environments. This individual will be responsible for applying cybersecurity engineering principles throughout the system lifecycle and ensuring systems meet security, compliance, and mission requirements.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience working within the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) and will prepare and manage Assessment & Authorization documentation to support Authorization to Operate (ATO) efforts. This person will collaborate with engineering and cybersecurity teams to design secure architectures, derive security requirements, assess system risks, and implement technical security controls.
Responsibilities include supporting Linux and Windows system hardening activities, conducting security assessments and vulnerability research, performing risk analyses, validating security controls, and assisting with remediation efforts. The ISSE will also contribute to security policies, standards, procedures, and technical documentation while supporting audits, customer assessments, and compliance activities.
Strong communication skills are required, as this role will involve presenting technical risks, findings, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a fully on-site position supporting highly secure environments and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.

Required Skills & Experience

• Active TS/SCI CI Poly Clearance
• Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of relevant Information Security/Cybersecurity experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
• Experience preparing and managing Assessment & Authorization (A&A) documentation utilizing NIST RMF frameworks
• Experience with RMF derivatives such as DoD 8510, JSIG, ICD-503, and CNSSI 1253
• Ability to achieve and maintain system Authorization to Operate (ATO) documentation and compliance requirements
• Knowledge of cybersecurity engineering principles throughout the system lifecycle
• Experience performing security assessments, gap analyses, and risk evaluations
• Linux and Windows system hardening experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain IAT Level II certification (Security+ CE, CCNA Security, or equivalent) within 3 months of start

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Security+, CISSP, or related cybersecurity certifications
• Experience with STIG/SRG compliance validation and automated compliance scanning tools
• Knowledge of IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection tools
• Familiarity with cloud security, containerization, and microservices security concepts
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipeline security, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) security
• Background supporting defense, aerospace, government contracting, or other regulated environments
