Manufacturing Engineer II

Insight Global is hiring a mid-level Manufacturing Engineer for a medical device manufacturing company in Odessa, FL. 50% if the role will be dedicated to new product launches; acts as a critical liaison between design and production, proactively providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback and routing new designs through the machining facility (CNC and lathes). role requires a deep understanding of technical drawings, including tolerancing, and how designs translate to manufacturable parts within a machining environment (CNC, lathes). Key Responsibilities:
• DFM: Provide critical feedback on new designs to ensure manufacturability and cost efficiency.
• Process Optimization: Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, including work instructions and creating fixtures.
• Troubleshooting: Resolve manufacturing issues using root cause analysis.
• Cost Reduction: Lead initiatives to reduce costs and improve productivity.
• Drawing Interpretation: Interpret engineering drawings to ensure manufacturing feasibility and quality.
•New Product Introduction (NPI): Support smooth transitions from design to production.

The Manufacturing Engineer II role requires a deep understanding of technical drawings, including tolerancing, and how designs translate to manufacturable parts within a machining environment (CNC, lathes). This engineer must be capable of pushing back on design when parts are unmanufacturable or too costly. Key skills include:
• Understanding Drawings: Interpreting complex technical drawings, including tolerancing, to assess manufacturability.
• Machine Knowledge: Familiarity with CNC and lathe operations, processes, and capabilities.
• DFM Expertise: Proactively providing Design for Manufacturability feedback.
• Process Optimization: Understanding and improving machining processes, time studies, and part routings.
• Fixture Design: Ability to design and implement machining fixtures.

4-5+ years in manufacturing engineering, ideally in a machining environment.
Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling.
Has owned cost reduction KPI and can speak to successes
Strong understanding of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, especially in articulating manufacturing constraints.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
