Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to support a leading aerospace and defense client in East Hartford, CT. This individual will support a combination of military engine sustainment initiatives and engineering change projects, working closely with cross-functional engineering, program, operations, and supplier teams to drive execution against cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

This role will be approximately 50% focused on sustainment activities supporting an operational military engine program and 50% focused on Class I engineering change implementation efforts for legacy propulsion systems. The Project Engineer will serve as a key point of coordination across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), ensuring program deliverables are executed on time, within budget, and in alignment with customer requirements.

Responsibilities:

- Manage project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and execution plans across multiple engineering workstreams
- Track program performance and communicate status, risks, and mitigation plans to engineering and program leadership
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and program teams
- Lead execution of engineering changes, ensuring timely implementation and stakeholder alignment
- Support sustainment initiatives by driving issue resolution, field investigations, and corrective actions
- Analyze program data and develop recommendations to improve project performance, efficiency, and schedule adherence
- Facilitate risk assessments and drive mitigation strategies for technical and programmatic challenges
- Support supplier coordination activities to ensure cost, schedule, and performance objectives are achieved
- Prepare and present technical and program updates to leadership and IPT stakeholders
- Monitor project progress and proactively remove obstacles impacting execution
- Support earned value management activities and performance reporting where applicable
- Contribute to project planning, forecasting, and proposal development efforts

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace engineering, project engineering, or program execution
- Experience managing schedules, budgets, and engineering deliverables within a technical environment
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering organization
- U.S. Citizenship required

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience supporting military aerospace or propulsion programs
- Previous experience with engineering change execution and configuration-controlled environments
- Familiarity with EVMS, project planning, and risk management processes
- Experience working with SAP, Teamcenter, Microsoft Project, or similar tools
- Background supporting sustainment, product improvements, or hardware investigation activities
- Experience collaborating with suppliers and external partners
