Job Description
A leading defense laser technology company in Longmont, CO is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the assembly, integration, and testing of advanced laser and electro-optical systems. This individual will build and document mechanical and electromechanical assemblies, assist with fixture design, coordinate materials and workspaces, and support thermal management systems, cleanroom operations, and facility-related activities. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, experience using hand and power tools, and the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings. Candidates must be eligible to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance, with preference given to those who currently hold an active clearance. This role is a 6-month contract to hire, with potential to convert to a permanent employee following that period. The target hourly pay range for the contract portion of the role is $30.00-$44.00/hr, with conversion salary coming in at or above that pay rate.

Required Skills & Experience
3+ years of experience working with mechanical systems
Experience assembling and testing mechanical and electromechanical systems
Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and BOMs
Proficiency using hand and power tools
CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude
Comfortable working in cleanroom environments
Eligible to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Active U.S. DoD Security Clearance
Experience with high-power laser systems
Fixture design experience
Electrical cable and component assembly/testing
Associate's/Bachelor's Degree or Technical Certification
