A leading defense and space technology client is hiring a Project Engineer VI to join the program leadership team supporting modular, scalable small satellite platforms and constellations in Englewood, CO. Day-to-day, this person will be responsible for the development and execution of the Integrated Master Plan and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), leading cross-functional engineering teams to plan and execute development efforts that meet cost, schedule, and performance commitments. They'll coordinate day-to-day task prioritization, define engineering resource needs, and secure appropriate staffing while partnering with Program Management on product design, development, and continuous improvement. A core part of the role is risk and opportunity management, identifying, assessing, and mitigating program risks along with managing change control across cost, schedule, and technical scope. The Project Engineer VI will ensure GA-EMS processes for design, development, integration, test, and performance verification are tailored and implemented to meet contract requirements, and will drive engineering tasks and action items to closure with regular status reporting to senior leadership. This person will prepare and lead major milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR), ensure entrance/exit criteria are met, and present engineering work products to customers and senior staff at periodic and milestone reviews. They'll also support proposals and white papers, including engineering Basis of Estimate (BOE) development and customer interfaces, while serving as a prime technical contact who leads by influence to drive program success. Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent engineering experience)
12+ years with a Bachelor's, 10+ years with a Master's, or 7+ years with a PhD
Active DoD Top Secret (TS) clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI
Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams and driving execution against cost, schedule, and technical commitments
Hands-on experience developing, maintaining, and executing an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), including forecasts and performance metrics
Experience preparing for and leading major program milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR)
Practical experience with Risk and Opportunity Management on active programs and proposals (identification, tracking, cost/schedule impact)
Familiarity with Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost/schedule management frameworks
Experience managing change control for cost, schedule, and technical scope
Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to serve as a prime technical contact to customers and senior leadership
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
Experience with requirements management tools and supporting requirements verification
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Working knowledge of space systems, small satellite platforms/constellations, and DoD customers (Space Force, SDA, NRO, MDA, intel community, civil science missions)
Active TS/SCI clearance
Familiarity with Windchill, Atlassian (Jira/Confluence), and SAP
Experience supporting proposals, white papers, and Basis of Estimate (BOE) development
Prior experience as a Cost Account Manager (CAM) or with EVMS tools (Cobra, wInsight, Deltek, MPM)
Mentorship or technical leadership experience developing emerging talent
Background with RS3-type modular/scalable small satellite programs or on-orbit mission execution
