Job Description

A leading defense and space technology client is seeking a Project Engineer V with Associate Cost Account Management (CAM) responsibilities to join their Space Programs team in Englewood, CO supporting satellite systems development. Day-to-day, this person will plan and execute engineering development efforts across new and existing programs, ensuring alignment with cost, schedule, and performance commitments. They will lead engineering activities for cross-functional teams, coordinate tasks to closure, and provide regular updates to Program Management and senior leadership. A core part of the role involves facilitating preparation for major milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR) and ensuring entrance/exit criteria are met. On the program management side, they'll support the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) by coordinating engineering inputs, tracking schedule metrics, evaluating critical path, and partnering with Project Controls on manpower and forecast updates. They will also actively manage risk, identifying, tracking, and assessing impacts to cost and schedule, and support change management as scope evolves. From an EVM/CAM perspective, this person will partner with Program Management and IPT Leads to monitor performance across multiple control accounts, develop and analyze EVM reports, recommend corrective actions, and maintain Estimate-to-Complete (ETC) updates. They'll also support Basis of Estimate development for proposals and changes, lead periodic planning meetings, and maintain large-scale tracking and burn-down workbooks (action item lists, design review checklists, deliverable requirements lists). Additional responsibilities include preparing progress reports and technical presentations, maintaining comprehensive program documentation, and mentoring emerging engineering talent to drive overall program success. Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent engineering experience)
- 9+ years with a Bachelor's, 7+ years with a Master's, or 4+ years with a PhD
Hands-on experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) or comparable cost/schedule frameworks, including supporting EVMS status updates
Experience leading or supporting engineering execution across cross-functional teams on complex programs
Familiarity with project initiation, planning, and execution, including managing scope, schedule, and cost commitments
Working knowledge of Risk Management processes and experience implementing risk management on active programs
Experience supporting major program milestone reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR)
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with customers, stakeholders, and senior leadership
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

CAM (Cost Account Manager) or EVMS certification
Active Top Secret / SCI clearance
Working knowledge of space systems product lines, customers, and DoD programs
Familiarity with Windchill, Atlassian (Jira/Confluence), and SAP
Experience developing Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for engineering tasks on proposals or change orders
Prior experience supporting an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and critical path analysis
Mentorship or technical leadership experience
